A New Year Begins

Happy New Year! Best wishes to you and yours for 1998. Before I get into this year’s news, let me digress for a moment and send a big THANK YOU! to Andy and Marcia Akers for putting together an incredible Christmas Party. My only regret is that anyone had to miss this event. And now for 1998. As it is an even number year, that means we must vote for club officers. Some of you know that one of our "members at large", Steve Park, has moved to Charlotte N.C. so we need some one to take his place on the Board. This is a very demanding position which involves showing up at business meetings and voting on stuff. It seems like we do something else equally as earth shattering but I can’t think of anything just now. The enclosed voting ballot has a write in area to nominate people for positions on the Board. You can either vote for the person presently holding a particular office, or nominate someone else who you think might do a better job. That is not to say that said nominee will serve if elected so keep that in mind. A ballot is included for those who wish to vote but cannot make it to the business meeting. See the events calendar for the meeting info. Of course since this is the first newsletter of the year the dues renewal form is included. Be sure of a couple of things if you will. 1) Make any corrections necessary and send the form in with your check even if the are no corrections. 2) Send everything to the address on the dues form NOT the club address! Thank you. You can also elect to put together a tour this year. If you would like to help with this please write a note on the back of your dues form indicating what month you would like to do this. Those of you who are online and receiving E-mailings from the Club will be able to vote electronically if you wish. If you are online but not receiving E-mailings, be sure to put your E-mail address on your dues form AND E-mail me with your address. My address is in the box on the back of all Club newsletters. While we are on the subject of E-mail, you really need to check out Howard Fitzcharles’ home page. The address is listed on page 2. There you will find all past NBCC newsletters for you to browse through and a sign up sheet, both of which you can print out.

Finally, there are two national British Car events coming to our area in the near future. First will be the MGA national meet in Chattanooga, then the Austin-Healey national meet in 1999. We will keep you posted as info becomes available.
