M.G.96 Update
Elsewhere in this newsletter is the registration form for M.G. 96 in
Indianapolis, June 26-30, 1996. If you own an MG you need to fill
in the form and send it in today. You also need to pick up the phone
and reserve a hotel room today. If you do not own an MG you should
seriously consider buying one just so that you can attend this event.
This is an urgent plea to both register for the event and to book hotel
rooms now before it becomes impossible to participate. The primary
hotel, Holiday Inn North, is already sold out so please look at the list
of nearby hotels and reserve your space now. It costs nothing to
make a hotel reservation now that can always be cancelled later.
Indianapolis does not have an unlimited supply of hotel rooms and you can
very easily find yourself sleeping in your car if you don't act now....
Question: What is this M.G. 96 thing anyhow?
1. All the national MG organizations have gotten
together to hold a combined event on the same weekend in the same city.
June 26-30, 1996 in Indy. The two national MGB groups NAMGBR and AMGBA
as well as NAMGAR (MGA) and the T- Series people are all sponsoring this
event as their primary annual event. As such it promises to be the
largest gathering of MG's in this
country ever. One thousand MG's is not unrealistic for this event.
2. A full schedule of activities is planned:
Driving tours, tech sessions, lots of vendor participation, safety inspections,
book signings, movies, photos, hospitality suites, trips to Raceway Park
, the Ropke Armor Museum, the Indy Zoo etc.
3. Track tour of the Indy 500 Speedway. Yes,
that does mean that you get to drive your M.G. on the world famous Speedway.
Only the first 1000 registrants will participate in this part. No,
you cannot drive at any speed you choose. Sorry.
All the activities are not yet finalized at this point. Road
rallies, funkanas and other activities are in the works. Individual
chapters of the national registers are sponsoring different events.
If you would like to participate in some part of the organizing
of this event, whether it be working the registration desk, parking lot
duty, or putting on a tech session the organization committee would be
glad to have another volunteer. Contact Stan at 352-8229 for more
info.
Indianapolis is easily a one day drive from Nashville.
A group of NBCC members will be leaving early Thursday, June 27th
and rolling into Indy in the afternoon. We hope to have as
many cars as possible on this caravan. There is safety in numbers.
It is expected that many attendees to this
show will not be able to make it to Indy in one day. Those
people may very well find themselves stopping in Nashville on Wednesday
the 26th and joining our caravan on the 27th. I
hope you will be joining us as well!
