Congratulations Stan and George
A hearty congratulations and pat on the back is deserved by Stan Fischer and George Ross. As those of you who were in Memphis or Chattanooga know, Stan’s MGA coupe is now complete. During the 2 year project Stan took a lot of flak for keeping the cars’ original Island Green color, but now that it is finished and assembled, one can see why MG choose that color. With the chrome trim and wheels and tires in place the car is quite stunning. Every nut and bolt is perfect and the car could not have looked this good when new. Most of us know what a painstakingly laborious task it is to restore a car and can certainly appreciate what these two people have managed. Do not miss an
opportunity to see this car up close should you get the chance. Those of you who own MGA’s may want to ask of the lessons learned during this project so feel free to call Stan or George if you need any help. Stan has promised an article for the newsletter describing the process which I look forward to and I’m sure you do also. The car took best of show in it’s first outing which was the Memphis show, and I would not be surprised to see it collect many more best of show trophies in ‘97.
P.S. When this went to press (Tuesday), George was in the hospital dealing with some undiagnosed problems related to surgery he had on his arm last month. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

NBCC Video Library
John Kieffer suggested that we start a library of video tapes that members have that they would be willing to allow other members to borrow. He has donated 1 tape which has The History of Speed, 1976 Monterey Weekend, American Hotrodder 08, NHRA Nostalgia Days from Pomona, Racing
Chronicles 01, 1956 Formula 1 (Pt 1), and Formula 1-Saga 1. I have several episodes of an excellent show that used to be on The History Channel called “The Automobile.” Each week was an hour long show devoted to a certain car. They were very well done with a lot of research and history included. Each tape has 2 episodes and they are: Austin Healey (100/3000)- Ford Model T, Tucker- Citroen, VW Beetle- Corvette, Jaguar E-type- BMW, 1955 Chevy- Datsun Z Car, Avanti- Firebird, Alfa Romeo- Ford Mustang, GT-40- Mustang. I’m sure a lot of you have video’s that would be of interest to some other members, if you’re willing to lend them out please let me know and I will run the list again. This is one way to get through the long winter nights while waiting for spring to roll around. Call me or better yet fax me the list for inclusion in the next mailing.

     Thanks in advance, JD
