Keystroke Settings
Go to: Start/Settings/Control Panel/Keyboard. This opens the Keyboard Properties window. The settings here control your keystrokes in all programs.
The first setting is "Repeat Delay". This is the time between when you hold a key down to when the cursor starts across repeating itself. Like when you hold down a letter key in a writing program. If you set the Repeat Delay too short, it is easy to accidentally type several letters where you meant to type one. Too long and you wait unnessarily too long. Slide the control all the way to "Short" then select in the bar window to place a blinking cursor in the window. Then hit any letter key and hold it down to see the time delay. Slide the control all the way to "Long" and repete the test. Then set the control where you are most comfortable with the delay.
The next setting down is: "Repeat Rate". The Repeat Rate is how fast it repeats the cursor or letter. Hit a letter key when your cursor is blinking in the bar window and hold it down. Then adjust the Repeat Rate to each extream and try it again. Again, set the slider control to what ever is best for you. If while using a writing program, you decide it is not the was you want. Just come back and change it.
Cursor Blink Rate is as it states, and you can set that to your liking. Generaly a faster blink rate is easier to spot when looking for the cursor.
