page 2.            Christmas Dinner

Go ahead and mark your calendars now for our annual Christmas Dinner. Cynthia King has once again pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat with arrangements at The Merchants restaurant downtown at Fourth and Broad. There is plenty of parking available in the Arena parking lot just behind the restaurant at 4th and Shelby. We will be ordering from a special menu consisting of delicacies such as Tennessee Medallions, Louisiana skillet shrimp, honey roasted chicken, pasta Mediterranean, a dish called the vegetarian, and more. Prices run from $13.95 to $23.95 so I hope this will a bit more affordable for everyone. Please call Cynthia at 385-0519 to RSVP by Dec. 1st. If you call me at work (259-4513) I can fax you the menu.
Please make your reservations ASAP! Thanks.

Heart of Tennessee Scottish Celebration!

We have been cordially invited to hold a British Car Show in association with the Scottish Highland Games in Murfreesboro on October 5th. This is going to be a big event. We will begin the day with an escorted parade of British Cars through Murfreesboro at 8:30, driving around the inside of the Celebration arena before taking our places just inside the main gate. My understanding is that this will be like the torch run before the Olympics. As people enter the area, they will walk through our display first. There will be, along with the car display, 9 bag pipe bands (oh man!), highlands and Scottish country dancing, food vendors, a caber toss competition which I understand is men tossing
telephone poles about, (chiropractors will be standing by), a sheaf toss which is tossing 16lb bales of hay into the air, kilt tossing, sheep dog tossing, and more tossing. Hard hats are required (not!). They are expecting in the neighborhood of 10,000 people to show up. There will be awards given for the
oldest car, most unique, best of show and best original. The event is an all day affair running from 8:30 to 5. You are not required to arrive at 8:30 or stay all day but show parking will be allotted well before the show. You can show up the day of the show if you like but there may not be a place available as they tell me space is limited. You need to call me and let me know what time you
plan on arriving and leaving so we can get things arranged in advance. Let me know by Sept. 27th. even if you only think you might make it. Admission is $5. Hope for good weather and we’ll see you there.
